- Students need papers to draw on
Time: 30 minutes
Procedure:
Discuss different types of relationships, sort relevant vocabulary into relationship categories and get to know other students through a game.
Activity 1
- Discuss with students what types of relationships there are.
Activity 2
- Write the following words on the board and ask students to sort them into categories of relationships, helping them identify seven such categories.
aunt, BFF, boss, boyfriend, cat, classmate, client, colleague, cousin, coworker, daughter, dog, ex, flatmate, girlfriend, grandmother, great grandfather, hamster, housemate, husband, iguana, lecturer, life partner, neighbour, nephew, niece, parrot, roommate, sibling, son, spouse, uncle, wife
Activity 3
Ask students to create a pie chart with their time division among their different types of relationships. Demonstrate by drawing yours on the board.
Activity 4
- Hand out the a printout to each student
- Ask student to fill in in
- Collect the sheets and randomly distribute them among students.
- Ask students to identify whose sheet they received by asking each other questions (e.g., “Were you born in …?”).
