Your student assessment should reflect the can-do statements you chose to integrate into your course. This should be an on-going process, encompassing both formative and summative assessment, so your assessment would be made up of a number of components (such as a traditional quiz, a performance task, a presentation, etc.)
Each of these components may be weighted differently to reflect their relative importance when calculating a student’s final grade for the course. We recommend that if your final exam is only devoted to reading and/or writing, it should not exceed 40% of the final grade, in order to provide opportunities for integrated assessment of all skills.
