Teacher notes – This activity develops listening skills of students. Watching the clip can be done also in the original TED website with native tongue captions or even reading the transcript in English or in any native tongue. In this way, students can learn and understand the content and vocabulary at their own pace and later attempt to answer the comprehension questions as many times as needed to answer correctly. This activity allows the teacher to see the data for each student (number of attempts until answering correctly, correct or incorrect answers and respond to each students open answers. Finally, there is a follow up activity that can be adapted to lower or higher levels. In this level – B1 – the follow up questions are simple fact finding questions about the personal background of the speaker.
In order to use this activity, students will be required to open a TED Ed account. Teachers will need to open an account as well, which will allow reposting of the lesson as is, or modifying it according to need.[/tabcontent][/wptabsy]
